Luke Kennard is a major basketball recruit for the Class of 2015. The 6’5″ shooting guard is from Franklin, Ohio and is rated by ESPN as a five-star prospect. Kennard is also currently ranked by ESPN as the 9th best player at his position for the Class of 2015 and as the 24th best player overall for the Class of 2015.
Through eight games into his junior season at Franklin High School, Kennard is averaging an impressive 38 points, nine rebounds, and five assists per game. It is easy to see why he is being so heavily recruited. However, Kennard has his choice of college programs not only because of his basketball talents, but also because of his academics. He is a National Honor Society student with a grade-point average above a 4.0.
Kennard recently trimmed his college options down to Duke, Florida, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan, North Carolina, and Ohio State. Although Kennard is still just a junior and has plenty of time to decide where he will go to school, he hopes to come to a decision no later than this upcoming summer.
Kennard has already been on the University of Kentucky campus a few times for events such as the UK Alumni Charity Game back in September. I’m sure Kennard will use his time left in high school wisely, to improve his already stellar basketball skills and academics.
