Inside The Numbers: Kentucky’s Road Woes

With their 82-77 loss to the North Carolina Tar Heels last Saturday down in Chapel Hill, the Kentucky Wildcats merely added to a disappointing trend. In their last 10 games away from Rupp Arena, the Wildcats have only been able to muster a 1-9 record in those games. Over the last 100 years of Kentucky men’s basketball, only one other time has the Wildcats had a record of 1-9 or worse in games away from their home court. That occurred between January 28th, 1989 and March 5th, 1990 when Kentucky had a 1-20 record over a span of 21 games away from Rupp Arena. Yet, the Wildcats have a 14 game winning streak at Rupp Arena. So, I decided to look at Kentucky’s last 10 home games and last 10 games away from home, statistically of course, to see if I could find any trends as to why Kentucky has performed so poorly away from Rupp Arena. Here’s what I found:
