In a bit of under-the-radar news from yesterday, it would appear that the 2014 Kentucky Wildcats football team will have a bit of a new look. With the big recruiting weekend that Mark Stoops and company held this past weekend, there couldn’t have been a better time to show these new uniform pieces to these young men. To fans, especially those who are a bit older, what the team is wearing might seem trivial. However, with teams like Oregon running out new uniforms every other game or so, other teams must keep up to catch the eye of young recruits. With that said, Kentucky finally appears to be catching up! 2014 Kentucky commit Adrian Middleton posted a picture of the new uniforms and various pieces, which can be seen below.
These new threads appear to include the grey/chrome uniform that Matt Elam tweeted out a picture of during this past season. Additionally, it would seem as though Kentucky is moving toward the new trend of having chrome helmets. In the Wildcats case, they will have both a true chrome helmet and a blue chrome helmet. Both will look great under the lights and be a nice addition to the current blue and white helmets that we have now. This will give us a wealth of possibilities when deciding on uniform combinations, as they will now have four helmets, four uniform tops, and four uniform bottoms. This is just another example of how Mark Stoops is changing the culture of Kentucky football. This reveal (albeit to recruits only) in the middle of a huge recruiting weekend in combination with the announcement that both Bud Dupree and Za’Darius Smith are coming back is HUGE! Stoops simply keeps finding ways to keep the momentum rolling until the wins can start coming on the field, something that might happen sooner than later at this current pace!
