*NIT SEMIFINALS

Kentucky returns to the Barclay’s Center for the second straight year and should have a pretty solid test ahead of them again. Last year, Kentucky needed the emergence of Jarrod Polson to step up and help seal a win over the Maryland Terrapins. There should be no unexpected heroes for as the heroes should be well-defined this year. Kentucky has a number of players to step up. They have however, been playing down to the level of their competition lately, with a couple of unimpressive wins over Cleveland State and Eastern Michigan.

Kentucky can not start slow against Providence as they will make UK pay.  Ed Cooley has installed a defensive mindset into his Friars and the Friar’s perimeter defense is tenacious.  Providence is playing the “Goliath card” pretty heavy this week.  The Friars are no slouch and have wins over Boston College and Vandy already this year.  Their only loss was to a tough Maryland team by four points, so this is not a cupcake matchup.

Ed Cooley has been quoted he does not give “a damn” about Kentucky.  We will see what he thinks around 11:00 PM tonight.  With that said, let’s meet the Friars.
