Rumors of a coach potentially leaving to the NBA is part of what comes along when a program like Kentucky has a coach in the calibre of Coach Cal. This isn’t the first time that we’ve have heard of such rumors, in fact a couple of years ago there were rumors of Coach Cal leaving as well. At that time, Coach Cal reminded us that he was happy where he is at and that his goal was “chasing UCLA.”
Now we have rumors of the Knicks wanting to hire Coach Cal as their next head coach, however, it’s important to remember that those are just rumors. I find it hard to believe that Coach Cal would leave after mentioning that he would love to coach a 40-0 team at Kentucky anyway. It seems unlikely for a coach wanting to bolt to the NBA to say such things, and that’s why I find it unlikely that Coach Cal will leave and that he is telling the truth when he says, ” I good where I am.”
Coach Cal is having a tremendous amount of success at Kentucky with number one after number one recruiting classes (possibly one of the greatest all-time this year), top-ranked teams, his teams win games, excellent fan support, final fours and has even won a national championship with a chance to win another this year. So, what incentive would Coach Cal have to leave? Doesn’t seem like there’s many reasons why Coach Cal would leave other than it’s a shot to coach another NBA team. But, I wouldn’t worry too much about it BBN, it’s just what comes along with Coach Cal as the head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats.
