NCAA College Football: #8 Missouri Tigers 7 Kentucky Wildcats 3 - after 1 quarter

It’s been a long football season for the Kentucky Wildcats football team but they are playing well early and giving the #8 Missouri Tigers all they want early.  Kentucky (2-6) actually drove first blood as they took their opening drive 76 yards before the drive stalled at the Missouri f yard line. Jalen Whitlow had a nice run for 25 yards to help get the UK offense started.   Joe Mansour booted the short FG and UK took a 3-0 lead at the 9:57 mark.

Missouri fumbled the ensuing kickoff and Kentucky recovered at the Tiger 44 yard, but Missouri brought the pressure on defense and the drive actually went backwards.  Kentucky’s defense played inspired football early, but the one thing they can not do today is to give Missouri a break.

Missouri got that break thanks to a 13 yard punt by Landon Foster that gave Missouri the ball at the UK 39.  Marcus Murphy carried twice, the second one for 27 yards to the Kentucky 8.  Matty Mauk then connected with Dorial Green-Beckham for the TD reception that gave Missouri the 7-3 lead.

Kentucky has no answer for the Missouri pass rush as the Tigers forced a three and out and will be getting the ball back at the start of the second quarter.
