Matty Mauk passed for five touchdowns as the #8 Missouri Tigers rolled to a 48-17 win over the Kentucky Wildcats in SEC football action today. Four of those touchdowns were to Dorial Green-Beckham, who finished with 7 receptions and 100 yards. Missouri is now 9-1 on the season and 5-1 in the SEC. The Tigers were picked near the bottom of the SEC East in the preseason but take another step to winning the division crown and a possible meeting with #1 Alabama in the SEC Championship game. Kentucky fell to 2-7 and 0-5 in the SEC.
Henry Josey rushed for two touchdowns, including a 86 yard run as he had 113 yards on the day. Jalen Whitlow passed for 223 yards and rushed for 44 yards for Kentucky. The Wildcats actually took a 3-0 lead over Missouri, but the Tigers scored the next 28 points of the first half which insured the rout.
Perhaps the most controversial aspect of the game was the appearance of Missouri QB James Franklin who had missed the last few games with injury. Even though he just handed off the ball, it was a curious decision to bring him into a 48-17 game and possibly expose him to further injury.
