University Of Kentucky Post Alabama State Press Conference/ Recruit Updates

This past Saturday night Coach Mark Stoops sat down with the media to discuss the win they just got over Alabama State. Coach Stoops said that there are still plenty that they have to continue to get better on and that there were things that frustrated him though out the game but it did feel good to get a victory. He also talked about the freak injuries to several players, even making jokes about Javess Blue.

Kentucky’s current recruits continue to impress. Lots of action this past Friday night so lets take a look at how some of the 2014 class did.

Drew Barker had the worst night of his season completing just 7 of 18 passes for 56 yards. He rushed for another 43. They lost to Covington Catholic 40-6. I’m sure you won’t see that much out of Drew and his team. They will bounce back.

Mike Edwards and his Winton Woods team defeated Glen Este 36-22. Mike played great again having 12 tackles, 2 for a loss and 1 interception.

Mikel Horton and Lakota West defeated Lakota East 34-27. Mikel had 18 carries for 138 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also had 3 receptions for 18 yards.

Jarrett Larubbio and the Lakota East offensive line played admirably and kept it close against West, who has the superior team this year. West is now 9-1 (5-0) while East is 5-5 (2-4)on the season.

Blake Bone turned in a great performance for his Woodruff team with  9 catches for 158 yards but it wasn’t enough to defeat Clinton who won 42-34.

Denzel Ware has been tearing it since he was cleared to play from a minor injury. Ware’s team won against an undefeated Niceville 17-12. Denzel had 8 tackles, 3 sacks and 2 fumble recoveries.

And lets finish up with the #2 all-purpose back Stanley “Boom” Williams. His George Walton Academy team lost to Athens Christian 44-42 but Boom had yet again, another fantastic performance. He rushed 26 times for 252 yards and 4 touchdowns.
