Kentucky Wildcats No. 1 in Preason AP Poll

Unsurprising to most, the Kentucky Wildcats are the preseason No. 1 team in the first college basketball AP Poll after they received 27 first-place votes and 1,546 points from the 65-member national media panel.

This is Kentucky’s third preseason No. 1 and first since 1995-96 when the Wildcats won the national championship. Head Coach John Calipari enters this season with a roster featuring two returnees in sophomore forward Alex Poythress and center Willie Cauley-Stein. Those two hope to help shepard six freshmen who were selected McDonalds All-Americans last season in Julius Randle, Andrew and Aaron Harrison, Marcus Lee, Dakari Johnson and James Young.
