According to John Clay of the Lexington Herald Leader, the Kentucky Wildcats may be getting their latest basketball commitment soon, as
The highly touted Class of 2014 shooting guard is scheduled to announce his college choice Thursday night on ESPNU. An ESPN spokeswoman told the Herald-Leader that Blackmon’s announcement will be televised during halftime of the football game between Louisiana-Monroe and Troy. That game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff, so Blackmon’s announcement will likely come sometime around 9 p.m.
The 6-foot-3 shooting guard is the son of former UK player James Blackmon. He was committed to the Indiana Hoosiers for three years before decommitting in August. Since then, he’s taken official visits to Michigan, Kentucky and Indiana, but UK has been viewed as the favorite since they offered him. Blackmon took an official visit to Indiana this weekend after attending Big Blue Madness on Oct. 18.
Blackmon previously told Inside Indiana, a 247Sports affiliate, on Sunday that he hopes to announce his decision sometime this week.
He’s a top-50 prospect on every major recruiting service.
