After one quarter, the Cats trail the Bulldogs by one touchdown, 14-7. On three consecutive drives, a touchdown was scored, looking as if the defense would be the missing factor in this game for both teams. After Kentucky failed to convert on their first drive, the Bulldogs scored on a 60-yard touchdown pass in which the secondary had no coverage on WR Malcolm Johnson. Kentucky recovered on the next drive, in which Ryan Timmons caught a short pass and ended up running 51 yards to the end zone to tie the game. Mississippi St. answered with a 19-yard run on an option play. The Bulldogs outgained the Cats 170 yards to 137, led by QB Dak Prescott (3-5, 81 yds). Max Smith went 7-for-13 for 80 yards.
