WBN Nightcap 10/22: Mark Stoops post-practice comments; Former Kentucky Wildcats faceoff in NBA preseason

After today’s practice, Coach Mark Stoops had some commentary as the Cats prepare for a road game against Mississippi State on Thursday. Stoops said that QB Max Smith will be the starter, but three additional quarterbacks will also travel with the team. Considering the fact that Jalen Whitlow and Smith have been banged up after the past four-game stretch, Whitlow remains an option at quarterback if things don’t work out with Smith. RB Raymond Sanders, who was injured against Alabama, is ready to go for Thursday also. Stoops also denied that Kentucky would use their alternate gray uniforms on Thursday. Maybe he was bluffing? You can watch the rest of his comments below:

In the only finished preseason game tonight that features any former Cats, John Wall and the Wizards went on the road against the Detroit Pistons. Tayshaun Prince and Brandon Knight are no longer with the team, but fan favorite Josh Harrellson made his return to the NBA effective this season after a stint in Puerto Rico and China. Wall finished with 11 points on 5-of-11 shooting with two rebounds in close loss, 99-96. Harrellson contributed with four points and two assists.
