Nelson County hasn’t been known as a hot spot for big time basketball recruits to land, but that changed this season when 2015 Forward Dikembe Dixson transferred to Thomas Nelson High School from Ashland, Kentucky. I watched Dixson some in his sophomore season, and knew that he would be a really good prospect. What I didn’t know was that he would dominate the John Lucas camp in Louisville, Kentucky last month.
Dixson went into the event kind’ve unknown, but left the camp as one of the surprises, and even got high praise from Evan Daniels who said “Dixson was a major talent, and will blow up soon” well that has happened in the past month.
Dixson got an offer from Marshall University tonight, but has been contacted by a lot of the bigger division one schools. North Carolina, Indiana, and Duke were all in contact with Dixson last week, and Texas sent an associate head coach to watch him work out. The interest for Dixson has even reached the west, and Iowa State.
Since this is a Kentucky website, I can inform you that Kentucky has shown interest in Dixson, and he’s actually made an unofficial to Lexington a couple weeks ago. Coach Antigua was in contact with Dixson’s mentor Brandon Bender after the John Lucas camp, and will keep in contact.
I love writing about 5 star top 10 players, but when a D-1 prospect is getting a lot of recognition in your hometown it’s a lot more gratifying. Dixson told me tonight that the only offers he has so far are Marshall which I mentioned earlier, and Kentucky Wesleyan.
I will keep everybody up to date on Dixson, and don’t be surprised if Kentucky, and other major schools give him a serious look before his high school career is over.
