It looked as though the Denver Broncos were going to have starting linebacker Wesley Woodyard back in the lineup Sunday night in a nationally televised game against the Indianapolis Colts. The former Kentucky Wildcats standout has been the same for the Broncos this year, racking up 35 tackles is essentially four games, as he left early in their Week 5 game against the Dallas Cowboys with a neck injury.

Since then, The Broncos defense has looked significantly weaker, and they thought Woodyard would play Sunday night. Woodyard took part in last Friday’s practice on a limited basis and was formally listed as questionable for the game, but he was a last-second scratch, and Denver lost their first game of the season. It appeared as though the tema was playing it safe and allowing him to wait until their next game to return.

The Broncos certainly will need him this week against the Washington Redskins, and his return will help Denver bounce back with an easy win.
