Kentucky Wildcats Basketball Recruiting: Top Prospects Take Visits

Once again, Big Blue Madness attracted some of the nation’s top college basketball recruits.  James Blackmon Jr., Trey Lyes, and Stanley Johnson are among the top prospects for Kentucky and the Class of 2014 that visited the University of Kentucky this past weekend for Big Blue Madness.

Blackmon Jr. is a five-star shooting guard, Lyles is a five-star power forward, and Johnson is a five-star small forward.  Tyler Ulis, a four-star point guard who has already committed to Kentucky, was in attendance at Big Blue Madness as well.  After his visit to Kentucky, Blackmon Jr. tweeted, “Had a great visit to UK this weekend S/O to #BBN for showing love.”  While Lyles tweeted, “Pretty good overall visit. Now headed back home .”  Johnson tweeted, “#bbm was great shout out #bbn #BBN for showing love.”

However, multiple other top recruits for the Class of 2014 took visits to other schools last weekend.  Jahlil Okafor, a five-star center, and Tyus Jones, a five-star point guard, visited Kansas.  After the visit, Okafor tweeted, ‘“Had a great time in Lawrence, appreciate all the love from everyone on campus. #RockChalk.”  Okafor has already taken a visit to UK and Jones recently cut UK from his lis of college options.  Okafor is expected to make a college decision soon but is also expected to attend the same school as Jones.  If that happens, UK will not be an option.

Devin Booker, a top ranked shooting guard, went to Missouri.  Booker has already visited UK and is expected to make his college decision on October 31.

Myles Turner, a top center, visited Ohio State.  Turner is still considering Kentucky but hasn’t scheduled any other official visits yet.  He is expected to sign with a school around April.

Lastly, Charles Matthews, a Class of 2015 shooting guard, took a trip to Michigan State.  Matthews made a visit to UK last month and was one of the first players in the Class of 2015 to receive a scholarship offer from UK.
