Big Blue Madness is always a great event for Kentucky fans to attend, but lately it’s been a huge recruiting event as well. Recruits from all over the country come into see the show that Kentucky puts on, and last night was maybe the best one yet. It was reported by Kyle Tucker on twitter yesterday that a UK spokesman confirmed that the cost for the event was more than 400,000 dollars.
Kentucky put on a great show for the fans, and current players, but also for recruits that were in attendance. Stanley Johnson, Trey Lyles, James Blackmon Jr., Tyler Ulis, and Karl Towns made up the 2014 class that were in attendance. Every Kentucky fan who follows recruiting knows everything about those guys, but one guy I want to talk about is the #1 player in the 2016 class Harry Giles.
Giles announced Thursday night on his twitter that he would be making his 1st trip to Kentucky for Big Blue Madness. Giles had a knee injury last year, but is now healthy and without a doubt a top 5 player in the country.
Giles stands at 6-9 and weighs 209 pounds from Winston-Salem, North Carolina which explains why most people believed he could be a UNC lean. Giles already has offers from Duke, North Carolina, Kentucky, Wake Forest, and NC State. He plays for CP3 in the AAU circuit.
Stanley Johnson was without a doubt the most important recruit in attendance last night, but Giles may be 2nd for the future of Kentucky. Giles went to twitter last night after the event was over, and said he had a great time last night, and wanted to thank the BBN for the love.
I will have more profiles of the younger guys that were in attendance last night later on next week, and hopefully some interviews with those guys.
