Good Friday evening to you Cats fans! Lets start out by listening to what Coach Mark Stoops had to say at his pre-Alabama press conference, then we’ll talk about a couple of recruits who are having good seasons so far.
Ok, for me, this is unusual. Maybe it is for all of us. I have been following Kentucky football recruiting for a long to time but this is the first time that I have seen practically all of our recruits having really good seasons. Now there are exceptions to that, if you read my earlier article, guys like T.V. Williams and Thad Snodgrass aren’t having the best of seasons but that isn’t due to their lack of play making ability or athleticism but rather that their teams are young and inexperienced. And then there is Darius West who has been injured and hasn’t played.
So, lets take a look at a couple of Kentucky’s commits. First up Stanley “BOOM” Williams.
At the beginning of the year Stanley showed why he was rated as one of the best all-purpose backs in the country. Williams had 161 yards on only three carries with two touchdowns. George Walton Academy won, 29-21. Luckily for the other team it was just a scrimmage.
On his first official game of the season, Williams carried the ball 22 times for 232 yards and two touchdowns in a 36-10 victory over First Presbyterian Day.
This past weekend Stanley and his George Walton Academy team dominated Hebron Christian Academy, winning 50-20. Williams ( 4-star RB, #2 all-purpose per Rivals.com) carried the ball 17 times for 150 yards and two touchdowns. George Walton Academy is now 4-2 on the season.
Williams has more than 1,000 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns in just five games so far this season, that’s an average of about 6.9 yards per carry. He’s on track to surpass his totals from last year when he rushed for over 1,900 yards on 130 carries with 24 touchdowns. Check out Stanley’s video below.
