Kentucky Wildcats Basketball Recruiting: Pursuit of Stanley Johnson and Jahlil Okafor

Jahlil Okafor has trimmed his list of college choices to four schools.  Okafor cut out Arizona, Illinois, Michigan State, and Ohio State.  Which leaves his remaining options to be Baylor, Duke, Kansas, and Kentucky.  It seems highly likely that Okafor and Tyus Jones will choose to go to the same school.  Jones is a a five-star recruit at the point guard position.  Since Kentucky already received a commitment from point guard Tyler Ulis, it is unlikely that UK will land the duo.  In fact, Jones cancelled his visit to Kentucky.

Stanley Johnson seems to be a much more likely prospect for Kentucky to acquire.  Johnson, a 6’6″ small forward, is contemplating between five schools.  Those being Arizona, Florida, Kentucky, and USC.  He has scheduled visits for each school and will visit Kentucky on October 18th for Big Blue Madness.  Johnson has a strong connection with Arizona since they have been recruiting him since freshman year of high school and knows a lot of people that go there.  There is also potential that Johnson and Justise Winslow could play together in college.  Winslow is a five-star recruit at the small forward position and has shown interest in Arizona, Florida, and Kentucky as well.  Johnson is in no hurry to make a commitment and likely won’t do so until after the New Year.
