The day is almost upon us! We are now just one day away from the Battle of the Governor’s Cup, the annual intrastate feud between the University of Kentucky Wildcats and the University of Louisville Cardinals. The series between the two schools started in 1912 and they played each other six times through 1924. Then there was a long hiatus of the series, for 70 long years, until the rivalry was renewed in 1994. Since then, the two schools have played for the Governor’s Cup, the trophy pictured above. This season will mark the 20th game for the Governor’s Cup between Kentucky and Louisville. To offer a historical perspective, I have decided to prepare a list of all the facts, records, numbers, etc. concerning the annual Battle of the Governor’s Cup to get you ready for Saturday’s matchup. Without further ado, here it is:
