Coming off of the first loss his head-coaching career, Kentucky Head Coach Mark Stoops is hoping to get his first career win this Saturday in front of what he hopes is a rocking commonwealth Stadium crowd.

Here’s some of the most noteworthy notes and quotes from his SEC teleconference today:

On the Western loss:

I’m looking forward to getting back out on the field. I was very disappointed in the way we played last week versus Western. Quite a few mistakes out there. It’s been a good week to get back out on the field and try to get these mistakes fixed and move forward.

On Miami, Ohio:

We’re anxious to get back out on the field versus Miami this week.

On his defense and making improvements this week:

We were not very good, really at any level of the defense. I did feel like as the game went on, or in certain cases, that the D-line was trying to do too much. That’s when bad things happen.

They did a nice job of managing that quarterback (Brandon Doughty). Believe they were only two of 10 on third down, but yet they still moved the ball very good on first and second downs.

I just thought they did a very nice job and put him in a position to move the ball. We need to do a better job obviously of making him more uncomfortable.
