Kentucky Wildcats vs Western Kentucky Hilltoppers: Live Game Thread

It is new beginnings galore as the Kentucky Wildcats kick off the 2013 NCAA Football season versus the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers. The Hilltoppers shocked the Wildcats 32-21 last year in overtime, a game that eventually cost Kentucky coach Joker Phillips his job. Western Kentucky has a new coach as well, as Willie Taggart headed south to coach the South Florida Bulls. Bobby Petrino lands at Western about a year after his disgraceful exit from Arkansas.

In just a few months, Mark Stoops has re-invented the culture of football at Kentucky.  In just a few months, he propelled Kentucky to Rival’s 29th best recruiting class in 2013 and UK is a lock for a Top 15 class in 2014.  But now it’s time to play the game.  Kentucky has a ton of questions to answer, starting with the Starting QB.  Mark Stoops has said that both QB’s, Jalen Whitlow and Max Smith will play, and the common thought is Whitlow will get the start.

The other question is if the playmakers Stoops has brought in will produce.  WR Javess Blue is expected to start and expect to see Ryan Timmons and Alex Montgomery get their names called as well.  On the defensive side, JUCO players Z’Darius Smith and Nate Willis are expected to provide immediate impact for UK.

The game starts soon, so join the WBN crew as we do a livethread for the game.  Come prepared with your questions and comment below and lets talk football.
