Former Wildcat Demarcus Cousins has had issues over the years with his maturity level. From his time at Kentucky to now in Sacramento it has not been easy for Big Cuz. The Sacramento Kings are looking to build around Cousins but want to see his maturity level rise so they know that they can depend on him to be their go to guy. His attitude seems to be improving at USA basketball tryouts by what USA basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo said of Demarcus,

I think Cousins came in with a very good attitude,” Colangelo said. “He worked very hard, his work ethic was great. So he just has to continue to mature and grow as a player, and we’ll make those decisions in the near future.”

Sacrameto Bee writer James Jones wrote that the Kings will be meeting with Cousins’s agent soon to discuss what could be a 5 year, 80 million dollar extension. The Kings love having Cousins and their GM  Pete D’Alessandro believes this week’s environment will only help Cousins improve. He is quoted saying in an article by Jones saying,

I think to put a young player in this situation with this level of talent, I think that’s a contagious thing and that’s a thing you want your young guys around,” D’Alessandro said. “… I think great players, they want to be around great players. And that’s what DeMarcus aspires to be as well.”
