Mark Stoops wanted to make an immediate impact on in-state recruiting when he came to Kentucky, and he did just that with Jacob Hyde. Hyde’s first scholarship offer was from Kentucky, and in turn he was the first commitment for the class of 2013. As a native of Clay County, Hyde was listed as the seventh best player in Kentucky according to Rivals. At 6-foot-2, 313 lbs., Hyde also held offers from schools such as Louisville, Georgia Tech, Missouri, and Texas A&M. However, he chose to stay close to home. Some scouts think that with his current frame, Hyde can get bigger and more in shape with Stoops’ staff at UK.

Must be doing your reporting from down @FGCU Allen! Hydes a great kid from the mountains, and was UK’s 1st Commit, but he committed on a visit to UK while the Jokester was still HC, NOT Stoops! Get your facts right before you get behind the keyboard next time!
