Kentucky has had the #1 recruiting class for the last 4 years under John Calipari, and it doesn’t look like they are going to let up anytime soon. In 2013 John Calipari assembled one of the best recruiting classes ever on paper. 2014 could be at the top once again, and Kentucky got some good news today. Big Blue Madness is one of Kentucky’s biggest recruiting days of the year, and today top recruits Devin Booker, and Stanley Johnson both said they would attend Big Blue Madness in October.
Stanley Johnson is without a doubt a major piece for this recruiting class, and John Calipari will have to battle his 2nd cousin and best friend Sean Miller of Arizona for Johnson. Johnson reminds a lot of experts of Michael Kidd-Gilchrist who was the glue for Kentucky’s 2012 National title. Today Johnson was asked about Kentucky recruiting other small forwards, and he replied with “They move as I move it seems like.”
Devin Booker is one of the best shooting guards in the 2014 class, and Kentucky offered him about 4 months ago in person. Booker was interviewing with reporters when Johnson came over, and said “Tell them we are visiting Kentucky together” he smiled and nodded his head. If John Calipari really wants Booker I think Kentucky has a great shot at landing him. Michigan is believed to be the favorite, but Booker has never said that himself.
Another visitor for Big Blue Madness will be top ranked Point Guard Emmanuel Mudiay who announced on Twitter that he would be attending Big Blue Madness as well. Many experts, and everybody around the Kentucky program believes that Kentucky is a strong lean for Mudiay. I have watched Mudiay play, and he plays the same way John Wall plays except he has a better jump shot than Wall. I believe Calipari has zeroed in on Mudiay from day one.
Big Blue Madness has produced many guys to commit a short time after the event, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it happens again this year.
