It’s easy to forget the success Stoops and Co. are having on the football field without having even coached a game yet. On the recruiting front, former Pitt running back Rushel Shell is shopping for a new school and Kentucky happens to be one of them, according to ESPN. Shell, Pitt’s second leading running back with 641 rushing yards and four touchdowns during his freshman season, is on the market after a failed transfer attempt. He would be available to play in 2014 after a redshirt season.
Shell originally announced his plans to transfer to UCLA in April, but changed his mind and decided to return to Pitt. However, the coaching staff did not accept him back on the team. Other than Kentucky, rival school West Virginia is also an option for Shell. Shell set the Pennsylvania high school rushing record in 2011 with 9,078 rushing yards.
