It appears as though Mark Stoops and co. weren’t finished today in building up the University of Kentucky football program, as he added a commitment from Florida offensive tackle Derrick Kelly. The 6’5″, 280-pound lineman holds offers from East Carolina, FIU, and Florida Atlantic.

Hearing that Havana (Fla.) East Gadsden OT Derrick Kelly Jr. has committed to Kentucky. #BBN

Kelly is a 6-5, 280-pound lineman (could be two-way, but sounds like he’s leaning OL for Cats).

Apparently, Kelly is currently on UK’s campus, and is really being swayed by the coaching staff to the point he may have already given them his verbal commitment. There are a couple of things in play here though:
1. Does he actually hold a commitable offer
2. With several other offensive lineman still on the board, would Stoops want his commitment now, or could he tell him to hold off for a bit.
3. Until the Yahtzee dice are being rolled, I’m skeptical. Simple as that.
That being said, if Kelly has in fact committed, congratulations to him. Make sure to hop onto Hudl and check out some of his highlights.
