And so Mark Stoops purge on talent continues and this time, he kept one of Kentucky’s best players in state. Rivals is reporting that DE Adrian Middleton, a 6’4, DE committed today to Kentucky’s 2014. Middleton is a three star player and plays at South Warren. He was also considered to be a Louisville lean, but well, Stoops happens. Rivals has Middleton ranked as the #5 player in the state of Kentucky.
With Drew Barker and Middleton, Kentucky has two of Rivals top five players in the state. #3 Reggie Bonafon is a Louisville commit and #4 Lloyd Tubman is a Vanderbilt commit. #2 Matt Elam looms large and if Kentucky can get him, it will be a decisive win over Charlie Strong for the state of Kentucky. Today’s commit moves UK to the #2 recruiting class in the country behind Texas A&M and just in front of Tennessee. And how tough is the SEC going to be in a few years when those three teams lead the nation in recruiting?
Also we should note that there is a bit of conflicting information on last nights WR commit Tyre Brady. He did commit to Kentucky, but it appears that UK may not have accepted his commitment yet. Some services like Rivals still show UK’s class at 17 players and Davis as uncommitted. We will watch this closely. ’
Here is a recent interview with Middleton where he discussed his recruitment just a few months ago.
