Kentucky Wildcats football gets commitment from ’16′s Landon Young … will Derek Kief follow suit Sunday?

Yesterdays verbal scholarship offer to 7th grader Jarius Brents sent a message out to Rival schools. Stoops is dedicated to reaching out to the best players in the country early and aggressively. Today, that “first is best” strategy paid off as UK landed a commitment from 2016′s Landon Young, a 6’7. 250 pound lineman from Lafayette High School in Lexington.  It’s kind of scary to imagine how much bigger Young will get as he still has three more years to develop.  Young was a freshman last year and played in 10 games and had 17 tackles.  There are no rankings for the 2016 class, but you have to think this is a big grab for UK, just due the size of Young and the fact that he is just going to get better and define his skills.

Young’s commitment is not the only big news today. Derek Kief, the **** WR from Cincinnati will make his college choice on Sunday between 5:30 and 6:00 PM on Twitter. Kief appears to be one of the biggest remaining targets for Mark Stoops and Kentucky and Drew Barker has been actively recruiting him. Kief is a freakish athlete, who stands 6’5 without shoes, runs a 4.47 40″ and has a vertical leap of 35″. Kief caught 65 passes for 907 yards and 9 TD’s last season. Kentucky is in a very good position with Kief and the fact that he is deciding now on the heels of Kentucky’s monster week could bode very well for the Cats.

Here is the obligatory video for Kief:
