#16 Cody Quinn, Cornerback

Class: Sophomore

Hometown: Middletown, Ohio

High School: Middletown

Height / Weight: 5-10 / 177

Quinn had an outstanding career for Middletown, which culminated in him being named Third-team All-Ohio by the Associated Press as a senior  after intercepting two passes and returned one for a touchdown, and had 10 pass breakups. He also runs a 4.37 40-yard dash. ESPN rated Quinn as the nation’s No. 68 cornerback. Picked UK over offers from several BCS schools, including West Virginia.

Quinn got playing time early and often for UK’s depleted defensive back core, and showed a lot of promise as they year went on, and will enter the 2013 season as a favorite to win one of the starting CB spots. He played in 11 games, including six starts while making 25 tackles, and led the team in pass breakups with five.

The one knock on him is he’s not very physical and struggles in press-coverage, something the Cats will be playing a lot of this year. He’s more effective in zone schemes, so it will be interesting to see if he can fit in to D.J. Eliot’s defense.
