Sometimes a little trash talk from an outside source can bridge the gap between rivals.

We are all well aware of the asinine comments made by Ohio State president Gordon Gee about Kentucky, Louisville, the SEC and Catholics. The media have been all over the buffoonish president since his comments have been made public.

Someone close to home finally had a platform to speak out and Rick Pitino did just that. On a Louisville radio show hosted byt local DJ Terry Meiners, Pitino blasted Gee using the word “ignorant” multiple times and talked about the progress made in academics at Kentucky and Louisville since he has coached at both schools.

While Pitino stopped short of coming totally to Kentucky’s defense, he said “I’ll leave that to John”, Pitino did not take the opportunity not to pile on Kentucky with another snide comment, nor did he pile on the SEC, he defended all parties involved. Pitino remained classy.

While the Cardinal coach was plenty upset about what Gee said about his current employer and his former employer, he took special offense to his comments denigrating Catholics.

Coach Cal hasn’t had the opportunity to call out Mr. Gee as of yet but I am sure the outspoken Kentucky coach will have plenty to say when asked about the subject.
