NCAA Baseball: Kentucky Wildcats Prepare for SEC Tournament

The 2012-2013 regular season ended for the Kentucky Wildcats yesterday.  Although they lost the series, they defeated Missouri yesterday to end the regular season with a win.  This season certainly hasn’t gone the way the Wildcats and many others expected.  The Cats started the season highly ranked and got off to a hot start by winning 16 of their first 19 games.  The second half of the season is when the Cats played primarily SEC teams and really struggled.  The team was able to finish the season with an overall record of 30-24 and a conference record of 11-19.

Despite their struggles, the Wildcats have made it back to the SEC Tournament.  This is the first time in 14 years that the Cats have made back-to-back SEC Tournament appearances.  They will be ranked as the No. 11 seed and have drawn No. 6 seed Ole Miss to play in the opening game of the tournament.  Kentucky won two of their three games against Ole Miss this season, nearly a month ago in April.  Therefore, the Cats should be confident in playing Ole Miss.

The UK/Ole Miss game is set to be played this Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. ET at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium in Hoover, Alabama.  It is a single elimination game and can be seen on Fox Sports Net or heard on the UK IMG Radio Network.
