The dog days of Summer are approaching, but it’s an NCAA Tournament gameday for the No. 8 Kentucky Wildcats tennis team, as they’ll take on the No. 9 Duke Blue Devils in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Men’s Tennis Championship at 8:00 pm ET. Live stats and video can be seen here, and should the Wildcats win, they’ll play the winner of the top-ranked UCLA Bruins against the No. 16 Vanderbilt Commodores.

In basketball recruiting,  2014 shooting guard Rashad Vaughn almost committed to North Carolina during a recent visit, but says he’s still open. He said his current list includes Minnesota, Iowa State, Baylor, Louisville, Kentucky, North Carolina, UCLA, UConn and Tennessee, and that he still has a good relationship with John Calipari and Orlando Antigua:

"I talk with them a lot so I’ve got a good relationship with them, too."

The thought in recruiting circles is that Cal is more focused on 2014 SG  Devin Booker, who already has offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Missouri, Duke and North Carolina. Booker is described as a scoring machine who averaged 30 points per game last season. ESPN rates him the No. 19 prospect in the country.

As of now, Booker is one of the more likelier 2014 targets to eventually commit to UK, and if you don’t believe me, check out his comments made after he found out he had a scholarship offer to Kentucky:

"I really didn’t know it was coming. Calipari texted earlier in the week and he said he saw what he needed to see and he liked my game a lot. And with him coming down, I thought he was just going to touch base. You know, he doesn’t give out many offers, and for him to offer, that was a big deal. It means a lot. With all the great players out here, and for me to be selected one of them to get offered — that means a lot."
