Kentucky Wildcats Basketball: Julius Mays Could Play Overseas

As a part of the 2012-2013 Kentucky basketball team, Julius Mays proved to everyone that he can play at a high level. Throughout the season he displayed his tremendous shooting abilities and came in clutch multiple times. Sure, he may have been inconsistent at times, but very few players can avoid having some slumps. Mays was a valuable asset for the Wildcats and although he may not be suited for the NBA, he certainly has the talent to play professionally somewhere else.

In a recent article from, Mays discusses his desire to continue playing basketball now that his college days are over. In the article, Mays discusses how motivated he is to keep playing and how Coach Calipari has encouraged him to do so. It’s a difficult decision for Mays though because he may have to be away from his daughter, Laiah, for long periods of time.

If Mays can find a good situation for him and his daughter then I think he should continue playing basketball. The article says that Mays can see himself playing in Europe. I think Mays can have success overseas because he is a great shooter, plays with good intensity, and seems to have a solid work ethic. Playing overseas could be an excellent opportunity to become a better player and maybe be good enough for the NBA one day.
