Future Kentucky Wildcats star in Nike Hoop Summit

Good morning, Big Blue Nation!

The Nike Hoop Summit came to an end last night just before the fireworks started in Louisville. The World Team defeated the USA Junior Select team 112-98. The World roster featured 2012 Kentucky Wildcats commit Karl Towns and potential commit Andrew Wiggins. The USA Junior Select team featured for Wildcats players Aaron Harrison, Andrew Harrison, and Julius Randle. Randle and Andrew Harrison scored 19 a piece while Aaron Harrison was scoreless. Towns scored 7 points for the World Team. Wiggins added 17 for the World roster.

Some of the top high school players are spooked by injuries, reports USA Today‘s Jason Jordan. Nerlens Noel is quoted while Julius Randle is mentioned.

In baseball news, former Kentucky Wildcats baseball pitcher James Paxton was mentioned in a recent Sports Illustrated article on the Seattle Mariners. With several young stars on the horizon, the Mariners rotation of the future is being compared to the Washington Nationals. Paxton was drafted in the fourth round of the 2010 MLB Draft. Paxton is currently pitching for the Tacoma Raniers in the Pacific Coast League.

Kentucky fans are known to be crazy but hopefully not as crazy as this Peoria, Illinois man that is suing Derrick Rose for missing the season.

The CATSPY Awards will be held Monday in Memorial Coliseum. A spin-off of the ESPY Awards, there are 24 individual and team honors that will be presented.
