The Kentucky Wildcats have the #1 recruiting class in 2013

With everybody signing their LOI in the late signing period I wanted to take a look at the top 5 classes of 2013. This class as a whole was one of the greatest classes in recent memory, and Andrew Wiggins is the only player in the top 150 that hasn’t made a decision. Kentucky who already has the number 1 class by far is in good shape to also land Wiggins. UNC, KU, and Florida State are also involved, and all of those schools could land Wiggins, and I would not be suprised. But here are the top 5 classes as of now…….

  1. Kentucky Wildcats- John Calipari has already locked up the #1 ranking again this season, and nobody will challenge the Wildcats for top honors this season. Kentucky has 8 players signed, and are waiting on the decision of Andrew Wiggins. Kentucky has 4 of the top 10 players according to the new rivals.com rankings, and 6 of the 8 are in the top 15. Derek Willis is ranked #115, and Dominique Hawkins isn’t ranked in the top 150, but won Mr. Basketball in the state of Kentucky after leading Madison Central to the state title.
  2. Kansas Jayhawks- Bill self has another great group of kids coming into Lawerence this season headlined by 5 star guard Wayne Selden. Selden is crazy athletic for a guard, and should start for the Jayhawks from day one. Joel Embiid, Brannen Greene, Connor Frankamp, and Frank Mason all rank in the top 80 in the class of 2013. Kansas lost a lot, but they could have another solid season under Self if all these freshman rise to their ability.
  3. Memphis Tigers- The tigers class is very deep as well, and should be another solid recruiting class to go along with senior Joe Jackson. Austin Nichols is the highest ranked recruit in the Tigers class at #17. Kuran Iverson, Nick King, Markel Crawford, Rashawn Powell all are ranked in the top 100. Josh Pastner worked under the best recruiter ever in John Calipari, and he isn’t missing a beat.
  4. Arizona Wildcats- Arizona doesn’t have a real deep class with only 3 members, but they do have Aaron Gordon who signed with them at the Mcdonalds All-American game earlier this month. Gordon is without a doubt one of the best player in the whole class, and that is the reason Arizona is in the top 5. Gordon is joined by Rondae Jefferson who is the 21st ranked player in the class, and 3 star Elliot Pitts.
  5. Duke Blue Devils- Duke like Arizona only has 3 players in the 2013 class, but Jabari Parker is without a doubt one of the top 3 players in the class. Parker picked Duke over Michigan State, Florida, and BYU. Parker is joined by sharp shooter Matt Jones who is a 4 star ranked player coming in at #36. Semi Ojeleye is the other members of the Blue Devils 2013 class.

I am ready for next season already. Like you said, Pastner is not half stepping because, he learned all of his skills from Calipari. Nice article dude!

Nice article Joshua, but I think Florida should have been in the top 5
