Kentucky Wildcats Football: Cats lands Transfer RB Braylon Heard from Nebraska

Mark Stoops just one of the biggest commitments since he’s arrived at Kentucky, and it’s in the form of  Nebraska running back Braylon Heard, who will transfer to UK this year and be eligible to play in 2014:

Heard was one of the Cornhuskers’ best backs last year, averaging 6.69 yards/carry in 55 attempts, while also notching three touchdowns, despite being the third and at times fourth-string back. Originally a member of the 2010 class, Heard was the #5 running back in the nation according to Rivals coming out of high school, and the #57 overall player. He was also rated as the #31 overall prospect in the country by 247Sports.

It was easy for UK Head Coach Mark Stoops to find out about Heard, who is the second Cardinal Mooney product, along with safety Marcus McWilson, to follow Stoops to Lexington.

Heard was recruited to Nebraska as a 5’11″, 185 lb RB, then briefly switched to cornerback before being switched back to RB before the 2012 season. He appeared in all 12 games last fall, rushing 52 times for 348 yards, but after the season, Nebraska’s coaches TOLD him they wanted him to switch to wide receiver, but he decided to transfer instead to continue playing elsewhere as a back.
