The day is finally here when Madison Central point guard Dominique Hawkins makes his college commitment. Hawkins is believed to have scholarship offers from Kentucky, Western Kentucky, Morehead State, Purdue, South Carolina, Tennessee Tech and Murray State.
After spending last week in Florida celebrating his team’s state championship, Hawkins returned to Kentucky and announced he would be holding a ceremony at Madison Central High school to make his commitment, and it’s believed he’ll be picking the Kentucky Wildcats.
If he does in fact pick UK, he’ll likely battle senior Jarrod Polson for backup minutes behind Andrew Harrison, but could eventually become the Kentucky starting point guard, as he’s drawn comparisons to former Wildcat Eric Bledsoe, who is now having a productive NBA career.
Dom is playing this weekend in the Ohio-Kentucky All-Star Game at Thomas More College in Crestview Hills, and wanted to make the announcement before he left for that tomorrow afternoon.
You can watch the live stream of Hawkins’ announcement here. The actual announcement is said to be around 8:15AM
