Can we just skip straight to Tuesday?

I hope it’s a good morning for members of Big Blue Nation but it certainly does not feel that way. I’ll be one of the biggest supporters of the Michigan Wolverines come Monday night.

Archie Goodwin had a signing at Lexington Sports Cards last night and opened up with WLEX 18 about his decision to leave the University of Kentucky for the NBA.

“I talked to my family and guys that I really value their opinion, my heart was telling me to leave. I felt like I did what I needed to do here. We might not have had the season that we wanted to have but I think I did enough to where I felt comfortable enough to leave,” Goodwin said.

Goodwin added that the incoming recruiting class next season had no effect on his decision to leave.

There was some good news for the Kentucky track team. Southeastern Conference Commissioner Mike Slive announced on Friday that Chelsea Oswald has been named the 2012-13 Southeastern Conference H. Boyd McWhorter Scholar-Athlete of the Year. In doing so, Oswald becomes the first women’s recipient of the award.

The Kentucky Softball team is on the verge of sweeping South Carolina. The Wildcats won 9-4 on Saturday and will resume the series at 1 PM today.

It has not been a good weekend for the Kentucky baseball team. Playing the LSU Tigers at Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge, La., the Wildcats have struggled to get runs on the board. LSU scored 4 runs in the third before going on to win 9-1 yesterday. Jerad Grundy (5-3) went 6 innings deep but allowed career highs in both hits and runs. Corey Littrell (4-0, 2.17 ERA) takes to the mound today at 1 PM against Tigers southpaw. Cody Glenn (4-1, 3.88 ERA). Glenn is 1-1 with a 9.24 ERA in 3 SEC starts this season. You can catch the action on WKJK in Louisville, WLAP in Lexington, and UKAthletics.com. Neil Price is on the call for the UK IMG Network.

The Kentucky Gymnastics team’s season came to an end in the NCAA Regionals. However, the 195.575 points that they scored at the meet were the highest ever in school history for an NCAA regional.
