Kentucky Wildcats Football: One Week!

It’s only one week until the Blue/White Spring Game! At the time this was written over 42,000 tickets have been distributed to fans and a couple of thousand more are expected to get general admission tickets on game day. With fans allowed to reserve up to eight seats, there has been some speculation that there will be some disparity between the tickets distributed and the actual attendance. That is surely true, even actual games that sell out during the fall don’t fill every single seat. But predictions that 15,000 will be in attendance are silly and likely coming from Louisville fans and that small anti-football segment of BBN.

With 42,000 reserved, it is a safe bet that attendance will comfortably above 30k, which would place UK in the Top 25 nationally in Spring Game attendance. There are still people asking daily about how to get some tickets. (All of whom I’m happy to oblige) So record attendance is nearly assured at this point. The weather forecast is clear this time around. Fans who want to keep up with news about the game can follow @UKGamedayInfo , an official account by UK athletics. A few quick changes to the event this year:

  • There will be a shuttle between Commonwealth Stadium and Keeneland starting at 11:30 a.m. The shuttle will board in the RED lot and costs $1.00 per ride. Hard to beat a deal like that.
  • Fans are encouraged to tailgate this year, but unlike normal games, the Spring Game has free parking. So no need for a parking pass, it’s first come- first served.
  • Most of the CWS concession stands have been upgraded to accept credit/debit cards.
