4PM Headlines: Jon Hood Returning to Kentucky Wildcats and Richard Pitino Hired at Minnesota

It was released today by the University of Kentucky and by Jon Hood that he will be returning to the Wildcats next season and Hood seems to think that he will be under scholarship in his final season.

In recruiting news, no, nobody knows where Andrew Wiggins is going, but everyone does know that he, along with the 6 UK commits, will be playing in the McDonald’s All-American game tonight at 9:30 on ESPN.

It is rumored now, by many national media members that Minnesota is close to choosing their replacement for former Kentucky coach Tubby Smith.  Oddly enough, it seems that the next coach of the Gophers will be Richard Pitino, son of former UK and current Louisville coach Rick Pitino.  So here’s the scenario: Tubby Smith replaces Rick Pitino at UK, then moves on to Minnesota.  Billy Gillispie replaces Smith at UK.  Billy G is fired from UK and is hired by Texas Tech.  Tubby Smith is fired from Minnesota and Billy G is fired from Texas Tech.  Smith replaces Gillispie at Texas Tech and Pitino’s son Richard replaces Tubby at Minnesota.  Quite an interesting span of events.

The women’s McDonald’s All-American game is tonight at 6:30 on ESPNU and there are two future Kentucky Wildcat Hoops team members participating so tune in to watch tonight.
