All is fair in football recruiting apparently as it is a form of war, but even I was a bit surprised by the bold recruiting pitch being used by former Kentucky Wildcat football coach Joker Phillips. Phillips was fired by UK after a 2-10 season and was promptly hired by the Florida Gators as a WR coach and recruiting coordinator. And today, Phillips sent out a tweet inviting WR’s to come to Florida and in effect, become the “next Randall Cobb”.

I guess that Joker is in his rights to tout Cobb as one of his achievements, but Cobb was actually coached by Rich Brooks for the first two years of his UK career. Joker was on the staff that recruited him however. Cobb exploded in his Junior season with Phillips as coach, having over 1000 yards receiving, 400 yards rushing and 13 total TD’s. For his career at Kentucky, Cobb had 42 touchdowns. After his one season playing for Joker, Cobb was drafted in the second round of the NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers and is one of the most dynamic playmakers in the NFL.
Joker is going all out in touting his former UK charges. He also touts former WR Stevie Johnson of the Buffalo Bills, who played WR for UK in 2006 and 2007. Phillips was the WR coach, but Rich Brooks the head coach. Joker did not become head coach at Kentucky until 2010.

This Cobb tweet is the latest in well, interesting recruiting tweets that has been sent out by Phillips, who seems to be embracing his comic book persona and his new position as a villain for Kentucky fans. Check this tweet out:
