2013 NCAA Basketball Tournament: Ohio State Buckeyes 78 Iowa State Cyclones 75

Aaron Craft calmly drilled a three pointer with .05 remaining and led the Ohio State Buckeyes to a 78-75 win over the Iowa State Cyclones in the 2013 NCAA Basketball Tournament. Craft’s heroics overshadowed a miraculous Iowa State rally which allowed them to take the lead late in the game. For both teams, the second half was full of rallies.

The Buckeyes led 52-51 with 11:46 left in the game when LaQuinton Ross hit a pairof three pointers in a streak which gave Ohio State a seemingly safe 69-56 lead at the 6:07 mark. The Cyclones fought their way back into the game, going on a 13-0 tear which knotted the game at the 3:53 mark. A Tyus McGee three pointer gave the Cyclones the lead at 72-71, and Craft knotted the score with a free throw with 1:15 left. The Cyclones never touched the ball again, knocking a rebound out-of-bounds at the :30 mark and setting the stage for Craft’s heroics.

DeShaun Thomas had 22 points and Craft added 18 to lead Ohio State (28-7) into the Sweet 16 and a meeting with Arizona ┬ánext week. ┬áIowa State was led by Korie Luscious’s 19 points and finish their season 23-12.
