In East Regional play today The No. 1 seeded Indiana Hoosiers (28-6) met up with the No. 9 seeded Temple Owls (24-9) at the University of Dayton Arena, Dayton, OH. The Hoosiers easily skated through their opening round game leading James Madison by as many as 33 points and giving their starters some much needed rest. Temple on the other hand had to fight to get past N.C. State, winning by only 4 points (76-72). Indiana wouldn’t have as much luck today in the first half as Temple went into halftime leading 29-26. The Owls senior guard, Khalif Wyatt was the star of the half, scoring 20 of his team’s 29 points. Indiana’s offense was a little more balanced as three players (Cody Zeller, Christian Watford and Victor Oladipo) scored 6 points each.

The Temple Owls continued carrying the lead until late in the Half. At the 6:47 mark, Indiana’s Will Sheehey hit a 3 pointer to tie the score 43 all. But on the next possession, Temple’s Khalif Wyatt hit a 3 himself to go back up 46-43. That was Wyatt’s 29th point. Again, at the 1:51 mark Indiana tied the game at 52 all. Indiana finally took the lead, 53-52 on a made free throw with 1:19 left in the game. Indiana won the game, 58-52. Khalif Wyatt would lead all scorers with 31 points.

Indiana will move on to meet 4th seeded Syracuse in the sweet sixteen.
