In case you thought your bracket couldn’t take another beating today, the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame took quite a beating in their 76-58 loss to Iowa State. Struggling early in the game, the Irish could not hold onto the ball, as they finished the first half with 14 turnovers. Iowa State converted those turnovers into points at the other end, coming from behind and taking a 12-point lead into the half on a 21-5 run.
In the second half, the Cyclones continued to shoot the ball well near 70 percent, even though the Irish were able to limit their turnovers. The Cyclones were lead by Georges Niang who had 19 points, and Melvin Ejim had 17 points and eight rebounds. Iowa State plays Ohio State on Sunday.
