2013 NCAA Basketball Tournament: Oregon 68 – Oklahoma State 55

In Midwest Region play, Oregon (26-8) met up with Oklahoma State (24-8) in second round play. Even though Oregon won the PAC-12 Title and they were good for second place in regular season play, they ended up with a lower seed (12) than some expected; including the Oregon players. They seemed to have a chip on their shoulder and something to prove. Well, they proved something today; they are better than a 12 seed. Oregon took the lead early in the first half and never looked back.

At the beginning of the game I thought Oklahoma State’s freshman Marcus Smart would be the star of the game and I was looking forward to watching him play. But it was another freshman that had impressed me. Oregon freshman guard Damyean Dotson, finished the game with 17 points and handled the ball well and seemed to play real smooth. Oregon Senior Arsalan Kazemi also impressed, scoring 11 points and pulling down 17 rebounds. Smart still had a decent game, scoring 14 points with 8 rebounds but he was also 5-13 shooting. Oklahoma State’s Markel Brown was 6-16 shooting for 16 points.

Oregon will move on to play Saint Louis University on March 23 at HP Pavilion in San Jose, Ca.
