Needless to say, since Kentucky is missing out on the NCAA tournament, this year has been a major disappointment for the Wildcats. Since the best they could get was an invitation to the NIT, there wasn’t much else to look forward to this season. The Cats came out in their opening game of the NIT like they didn’t want to be there and were ready for the season to be over. Robert Morris played extremely competitive and jumped out to an early double-digit lead. The Cats shot poorly in the first half and committed numerous turnovers. However, Polson and Goodwin played with intensity and helped Kentucky come back to only trail by a point at halftime. Kentucky continued to struggle in the second half as they trailed until they were able to tie the game with a couple of minutes left. The Cats had the chance to win or tie the game on a last second shot but were unable to convert. Kentucky can now regroup and start building towards next season.
