After yesterday’s surprising win over Tennessee, Alabama met up with the Florida Gators who has previously dismantled the LSU Tigers. Things weren’t going to come as easily for the Gators today though.

The game stayed close through the first half. For the first 4 minutes Florida held a 2-0 lead. It was at the 16:42 mark before Alabama made their first basket. With 3:30 left in the half, Nick Jacobs made a layup while being fouled. After his made free throw, Alabama to the lead, 21-20. The half would end with Alabama on top, 28-25.

The second half was a different story for Florida who finally found their grove. Kenny Boynton was challenged by coach Billy Donavon to be more aggressive and that is just what Boynton did. In a span of 6 minutes, Kenny scored 16 points. Boynton finished the game on 6-12 shooting including two 3 pointers for 16 points and 2 rebounds. His teammate, Patrick Young finished with 13 points, 9 rebounds,2 steals and 1 block.

Florida will now face the winner of the Vanderbilt vs. Ole Miss game (to be played today at 3:30pm)on Sunday, March 17 at 1:00pm on ABC.
