Indiana came into the week ranked #1 in the nation, but had a very tough game on the road at Michigan State earlier in the week. Indiana hasn’t won in Lansing in a very long time, but they haven’t had a team like this either. The Hoosiers are starting to look like the best team in the nation like everybody in the nation thought they would be earlier in the season. IU defeated the Spartans 72-68 on Tuesday night behind Victor Oladipo’s 19 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 steals. Oladipo is making a strong push for national POY with his performances in the last few months. Indiana travels to Minnesota to take Tubby Smith, and the Gophers on Tuesday which is always a tough place to play.
Gonzaga is a team not very many people are talking about as a title contender, but they are right behind Indiana in my opinion as title favorites going into March Madness. They are now ranked #2 in our top 25 after a 31 point blow out win over San Deigo on Saturday. They lead the nation in offensive points per possession, and have balanced scoring in every position led by 7 footer Kelly Olynyk. Mark few has had some really good teams at Gonzaga, but this may be his best yet.
Good news for the Duke Blue Devils came out earlier this morning when the Charlotte Observer reported that Ryan Kelly will be back for the tournament, and could even make it back for the Blue Devils by senior night on March 5th. Kelly is a very big part of the Duke offense as he is their most versatile player, and with him back in the lineup Duke will be a much better team heading into the NCAA tournament.
