Former Kentucky Wildcats in the NBA: Rising Stars Edition

In a game that featured zero defense, as expected in any All-Star weekend event, Team Chuck defeated Team Shaq 163-135 Friday night. There were three former Cats that participated in this year’s BBVA Rising Stars Challenge.

Anthony Davis (C/New Orleans/Team Chuck): Team Chuck was lead by former Morehead St. and current Denver Nuggets F Kenneth Faried who put up 40 points and 10 rebounds. But that didn’t hold Davis back from having a good night, either. The rookie finished with 11 points, nine rebounds, and two blocks for Team Chuck.

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (SF/Charlotte/Team Shaq): MKG had been cleared to play after the concussion he suffered last week, and he did well, putting up eight points, four rebounds, and three assists for Team Shaq.

Brandon Knight (PG/Detroit/Team Chuck): Knight finished with 10 points and six assists on poor shooting, but the highlight of the night was his defense on Kyrie Irving– or lack thereof. At one point in the game, Kyrie took Brandon one-on-one, nearly driving right towards the basket from the wing then pulling back for a deep two, a shot that left Knight on the floor after he got crossed. It was quite an embarrassing moment for him, but a good one for SportsCenter.
