Hyde was the first player to commit to Kentucky’s 2013 class and did so way back in March. Despite a 2-10 season, a coaching change, a scheme overhaul, and everything else that has changed in what’s been almost a year since he pledged, Hyde has stayed true to the Wildcats and the new staff stayed true to him. Hyde actually bleeds blue so strongly, that he committed to Kentucky before the recruiting season ever really took off, so he doesn’t hold any other known offers. He is universally ranked between the #46 and #63 defensive tackles nationally, so he’s certainly a guy that can play. Honestly, if Hyde had de-committed and played the attention game, he probably could have gotten a ratings boost out of it. Regardless, Hyde is a guy that can come in and compete right away. If the staff does choose to redshirt him, it will only be because of depth at the DT position and the team having three seniors there. His game is all about Brute strength, but he does have some moves for a 300+ pound guy. Hyde is a very important addition to this class because he keeps a talented Kentucky player at home. SIDE NOTE: Hyde’s Letter Of Intent is not expected to be sent in until Friday, so don’t freak out when it doesn’t show up. He’s been in Texas competing in an All-Star event and will not be back until then. Hyde is FULLY expected to sign with Kentucky.
